Man arrested for drugs and firearms offences

A man has been arrested after police officers swooped on a van in Elvington which had a number of young people gathered around it.

Police officers from the Dover District Neighbourhood Task Team were in Chaucer Road on Wednesday night when noticed the youngsters congregating in the area of the van.

A search of the vehicle revealed 3.5 kilos of cannabis and more than £400 cash.

The 40-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply.

A search was then carried out at his home address in East Langdon where a large number of imitation BB guns, combat knives and cross bows were seized. Police also seized 25 shotgun cartridges.

He was released on bail, until April 11, while officers make further enquiries.
