A man is reported to have been arrested at the port of Dover in connection with the murder of two women in Birmingham.

The bodies of the women - both said to be in their early 20s - were found in a flat in the city on Monday.

Police said they had been subjected to a "sustained and violent attack".

A 28-year-old man from Birmingham was arrested by Kent Police on Tuesday morning as he tried to board a ferry in Dover.

Police said the killer may have been known to the women, who had lived together in the flat.
