A man has been charged after a teenage girl was reportedly touched on her arm and face in the street.
Police were called to St James Street in Dover after reports a man made inappropriate comments to the victim and touched her arm and face at around 10pm on Sunday, December 3.
Members of the public intervened before officers arrived.
Police were also made aware of a report that a person had been trying the door handles of vehicles in the same area.
Detectives investigating the incident have charged Ali Issaq, 28, of Wherstead Road, Ipswich, with one count of sexual touching, vehicle interference, and two counts of assaulting an emergency worker.
A police spokesperson said: “It was reported that a teenage girl walking down the street had been approached by a man who made inappropriate comments and touched her arm and face before members of the public intervened.
“Officers attended the scene and were subsequently made aware of a report that a person had been trying the door handles of vehicles in the same area.”
Issaq was remanded in custody to appear at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court today (December 5).
