A Dover man has appeared in court charged with raping a woman in the town on Christmas morning.

It comes after a woman in her 20s told police she was raped in Pencester Court in the early hours of Christmas Day.

A police investigation was launched an 20-year-old Tudor Tofoi, from High Street, was arrested and charged with rape.

He appeared in court this week and was remanded in custody before a next appearance at Canterbury Crown Court on April 15.

Detectives are still hunting a second suspect, who is believed to have left the country.
