A man is in a serious condition in hospital after being stabbed in Dover town centre.

The victim was airlifted to King's College Hospital after allegedly being ambushed by a group of men.

It is said he managed to make it home to Oswald Road before the alarm was raised.

A police spokesman said: "Officers were called to the Oswald Road area at 2.18pm following a report that a man had sustained a wound to his abdomen.

"He has been taken to a London hospital for treatment to injuries which are reported to be serious.

"The injuries are believed to be consistent with a stab wound.

"At present no arrests have been made and officers remain in the area conducting ongoing enquiries."
