Officers attended along with paramedics and the man was taken to hospital with facial injuries.

The incident happened between 2.35am and 2.40am on New Year’s Day.

An event run by Unforeseen Productions – called Gruuv at the Barn NYE – was held at Farthingloe Barn.

It is understood the attack happened after the event had finished while people were waiting for a shuttle bus service.

A webpage for the event states: “We are going bigger and better this year, with our first-ever barn rave.

“With the usual Gruuvments crew and one or two new faces behind the decks, this promises to be an unreal night.

“This time around, we are collaborating with local brand Credence, who will be bringing different house and garage sounds along with them.

“We will be running a shuttle bus service from Cheriton Place to and fro the barn.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or has any information, is urged to call police on 01843 222289 quoting reference 46/106/25.
