Weighing in at a colossal 65st, Carl Thompson is thought to be Britain's heaviest man.

The 32-year-old from Dover has piled on an astonishing 30st in the past three years - and faces death if he does not drastically change his diet.

Mr Thompson, who is unable to leave his home in Maison Dieu Road due to his size, reportedly eats whole boxes of ice cream and loaves of bread with jam every day.

Suffering from various weight-related health issues and looked after by NHS staff, he now fears for his life if he does not change his lifestyle soon.

Mr Thompson admits he has always been a binge eater, but has almost doubled in size since his mother died in 2012.

But despite his multitude of health problems, Mr Thompson refuses to have a gastric band fitted in order to lose weight, describing the surgery as "dangerous".

It was a route taken by the previous holder of the title of Britain's heaviest man, Paul Mason, who once tipped the scales at 70st.

Mr Mason, from Ipswich, has since shed 46st after undergoing the weight loss procedure.
