Police have released the name of a crew member who is still missing following a night out in Dover.

George Spence, 61, a sailor on the Suffolk Spirit, has not been seen since a night out drinking with shipmates in the town.

Earlier this week it was feared Mr Spence may have fallen from the vessel, which was stationed in the Western Docks, next to Dover Cruise Terminal 1 on Monday night.

The alarm was raised on Tuesday morning, sparking two RNLI lifeboat searches throughout the day.

Mr Spence has shoulder length grey hair and is 5ft 1ins.

A police spokesman said today: "An investigation has been launched into his disappearance. Anyone who knows of his whereabouts is asked to contact Kent Police on 101."
