A motorcyclist was taken to hospital after a crash involving a van.
Police and ambulance crews were called to the A2 approaching the Whitfield roundabout at about 4.45pm.
The A2 coastbound was closed between the A260 (Lydden) and the A256 (Whitfield) until just after midnight.
A spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 4.16pm on Friday, September 6 to a collision between a van and a motorbike on the coastbound A2 in Whitfield.
"Officers are in attendance alongside the South East Coast Ambulance Service and Kent Fire and Rescue Service.
"The motorcyclist has been taken to a London hospital for treatment to a leg injury and a localised road closure is in place."
Andrew Azur, 55, of Becontree East London was held up on the coach for an hour as he headed towards Dover on his way to a weekend in Calais.
He said: "The front of the van was very badly dented and I could see paramedics working on a man on the ground who I believe was a male motorcyclist probably in his 30s. He looked very badly injured.
"The coach had been very near the Dover Leaf Hotel and had already slowed down because of heavy traffic. Then the accident happened. Other passengers on the coach saw the moment it happened but not me.
"I only realised what happened when I heard the noise of the crash and passengers crying out 'Oh, no."
Trapped traffic on the carriageway was turned around.
