A Morrisons shopper received a shock when a bottle of milk was priced at almost £300 at the self-service checkout.
Vicky Otto, 41, grabbed two bottles of the dairy drink from the reduced shelf in the Dover store, both costing £1, and was flabbergasted when the pricey sum of £299.01 appeared for one of the products.
The error occurred when the barcode didn’t work at the checkout for the second bottle, and so Ms Otto typed in the number instead, with £300.01 flashing up as her total bill for both bottles.
Ms Otto said: “After a giggle and taking a photo, I asked a staff member for help and they said someone else brought a sandwich filler from the reduced shelf and it came up as £700.
“The mad thing is it was the same barcode as the first lot of milk I typed in just before.
“I was just a tad shocked, I get the cost of living has gone up but that’s a bit of a jump.”
She added: “The staff were lovely and couldn’t have been more helpful. Apparently, there had been a few problems with the reduced stuff.
“I did feel for them as it could have made for a stressful day.”
Morrisons has been contacted for comment.
