Mystery of man missing from ferry

AN APPEAL has been made for information about a man reported missing from a cross-Channel ferry.

The passenger was missing when the Norfolkline ferry Dawn Merchant arrived in Dover from Dunkerque just before midnight last night.

The alarm was raised when an unoccupied Belgian-registered car was found on the ship after all the passengers and vehicles had disembarked. A search of the ship revealed the man’s belongings, but there was no sign of him.

Wayne Bullen, Norfolkline’s general manager Dover-Dunkerque said: “Police were informed immediately we found the car and we removed the vehicle after the ship had been searched.

“The Coastguard were also informed and the matter is now being dealt with by the authorities.”
