A couple from Dover had a nasty surprise on their wedding day when their car was broken into.
Claire and Adam Pragnell, of Bridge Street, parked their car on Granville Street near Halfords on the morning of their wedding, last Saturday.
They then left their car over the weekend to enjoy the ceremony at St Peter and St Paul’s Church, Minnis Lane, River.
The couple returned to their vehicle on Monday morning to find the window had been smashed and their stereo and some CDs were missing.
Mrs Pragnell, 24, said: “It’s awful to come home to find that.
“I know there’s been quite a bit of this recently and anything that will stop them we will do.”
The pair have been appealing for witnesses on social media sites but have had no luck so far.
Mrs Pragnell added: “No one has seen anything and it’s difficult because we don’t know what time it was or even what day.
“Since asking people to help us in appealing for witnesses we’ve heard there’s been a few incidents like this in the area around the surrounding roads and I don’t want this to happen to anyone else.
“They took the stereo out and a CD wallet full of CDs. They obviously looked through the glove box too but nothing was taken out of there.”
Mrs Pragnell, who works at The Cricketers, said this was not what she expected to be dealing with straight after her wedding day but since she was not aware of the incident at the time the theft did not spoil the couple’s big day, which Mrs Pragnell said was “absolutely lovely”.
The newlyweds have had to pay £30 to replace the window and are yet to buy another stereo to replace the one that was stolen.
Mr Pragnell, 29, who works for P&O Ferries, is appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
The car is a red Vauxhall Astra and was broken into between Saturday, April 26, at 10am and Monday, April 28, at 10.30am.
If anyone has any information call police on 101 quoting crime reference ZY/13615/14.
