Dover district councillor Nigel Collor couldn’t wait to get to the controls of the new high speed train HS1 when it was unveiled at St Pancras International Station on Friday.

But he had to be content with a simulator at Ashford instead!

Cllr Collor, who is the council’s cabinet member responsible for access, was among those who got a close-up look at one of the new trains which will be used to provide the high speed service through Kent.

And when he took his seat in the simulator, he made sure the route he was taking was from St Pancras to Dover Priory.
