MP Natalie Elphicke has got herself checked for coronavirus - and wants everyone to do the same.
The Dover and Deal MP got a negative result and she says those without symptoms should be checked too.
Mrs Elphicke was tested at Dover Discovery Centre, which is offering quick and easy checks for those who have no outward signs of the virus.
She also warns those found to be clear to keep social distancing and obeying the lockdown rules.
The detection of cases allows those who test positive to self-isolate and break the chain of transmission.
It also gives public health teams information about the extent of transmission and incidence of the virus in a community.
Mrs Elphicke, said: “The Prime Minister has made clear that, as a country, we are tackling the virus with everything we’ve got.
" The combination of lockdown restrictions, mass testing, and vaccination provides us with an opportunity to make real progress, and to look forward with hope to a better spring and summer.
“We must all be as vigilant as ever to protect ourselves and our loved ones from this terrible virus and we must take every last precaution in order to halt its spread.
“I would encourage everybody who can do so to book a test. Anyone experiencing symptoms associated with coronavirus can continue to book for a full test in the usual way
" Additionally, rapid turnaround tests for those without symptoms are now also available for our community, organised by the armed forces.
"This asymptomatic testing is an opportunity to help identify pockets of infection, drive down transmission rates and protect those around us.”
Booking slots are available seven days a week, from 9am to 7pm, at Dover Discovery Centre in Market Square.
