A woman has described vandals as “pathetic” after they sprayed obscene graffiti on her wall - because they couldn’t even spell.

The yobs put on a sexually explicit image with the words “big black cook.”

With the proper spelling that would be a clear obscene reference.

Madeleine Mee, 52, of Dover, said: “I don’t think this was personal, I have a flank wall so they treated that as a blank canvas.

“It was shocking, but then I also found it funny because they couldn’t even spell. So they are pathetic.

“Your home is your pride and joy and they seem to get a kick out of damaging someone’s property.”

Miss Mee had found the graffiti on her cottage in Ashen Tree Lane on Tuesday lunchtime.

Police believe it was sprayed at any time between Monday afternoon and the early hours of Tuesday.

She contacted police and Dover District Council that day and the council cleared the graffiti off by yesterday morning.

She said: “The problem is the the vandalism was not picked up on my CCTV and there are no public cameras close by.

"The police gave me a reference number and asked me to email the image and visited me two days later.

“The council did come reasonably soon to take it off because it was classed as obscene.”

Miss Mee is retired as a clerical officer but is a volunteer receptionist, as a part-timer, at Dover Citizens Advice Bureau.

Kent Police spokesman Steve Knight said: “Kent Police received a report of criminal damage to a property in Ashen Tree Lane, Dover on Tuesday, March 28 where graffiti was sprayed onto a wall.

“It is believed the damage was done between 3pm on Monday and 12.30am on Tuesday.”

Sgt Ben Norbury from the community safety unit said: `We understand that graffiti can be extremely upsetting for residents and that’s why we work closely with our partner agencies to reduce these incidents and identify those people responsible.”

He said that any witnesses or those that could help police in this incident should call l 01843 222289 and quote reference number ZY/012070/17.
