The opening date for a town’s new gym replacing a former Halfords store has been confirmed.
The 24-hour fitness site PureGym is set to welcome customers next month after filling an empty unit in Granville Street, Dover.
It will be the district’s first facility by the brand bringing 15 part-time and full-time jobs to the area.
The plans were given the green light last year despite a number of concerns from residents over noise, parking and anti-social behaviour.
A spokesperson for the gym franchise said people will be able to use the site from midday on September 22.
“PureGym is excited to be bringing affordable, flexible fitness to Dover,” they said.
“From 12pm on September 22, the brand new gym will provide members with everything they need to reach their fitness goals 24/7, with a wide range of state-of-the-art equipment along with access to a range of energising group classes, all included in PureGym’s flagship low-cost, zero-contract memberships.
“This will be a fantastic facility to help support the people of Dover's mental and physical wellbeing.”
Also at the location, Maison Dieu Veterinary Group will be opening next to PureGym in the former Carpetright unit after being given planning approval by Dover District Council in October last year.
It will be moving from its current location in Maison Dieu Road but no opening date for the vets has been confirmed.
