An outdoor screening of The Greatest Showman rounds off this year's Port of Dover Community Regatta.

The 2017 film tells of the Ringling Bros and Barnum and Bailey Circus, which began in 1871 and ended just two years ago.

The Regatta, which starts at 9.30am on the Seafront, is in its seventh year and is usually attended by about 10,000 people.

It also features a giant inflatable assault course, a 7.5 metre high climbing wall, a bungee run, Sumo suit wrestling and the Community Raft Race.

Port of Dover and P&O Ferries staff will have teams competing in their own sports day.

Port vessels, Dover Lifeboat, Border Force, Royal Cinque Ports Yacht Club and the Splash Pals Newfoundland dogs will also be doing demonstrations.

Barbara Buczek, chief commercial officer at the Port of Dover said: “The Regatta is one of the most anticipated days in Dover’s annual event calendar.

"Witth more fun and competitive activities than ever before, this year’s is guaranteed to be a fantastic day for all.

"It’s the perfect opportunity for the local community to come together and celebrate everything the Seafront has to offer, whilst raising money for local charities.”

One of the three Dover-based charities benefitting this year is Pegasus Playscheme, which offers a summer playscheme for children and young people with disabilities.

A second is Dover smART Project, which supports vulnerable and disadvantaged people through community arts projects.

The third is Wetwheels South East, which lets disabled people sail in a specially designed boat.
