A pedestrian was taken to hospital after a collision with a car this morning.
It happened in Limekiln Street, Dover, at about 6.50am.
Police cordoned off part of the road, stopping traffic bound for the town from the A20.
The BP petrol station was also closed off.
A Kent Police spokesman said: "Officers attended along with South East Coast Ambulance and the pedestrian was taken to hospital."
Police said the Dover-bound carriageway of the A20 remained closed between the South Military Road roundabout and the junction with the A256 York Street.
This was while the incident continued to be dealt with.
With this happening during the rush hour police warned of delays and motorists were advised to seek alternative routes where possible.
A witness at the scene at 8.20am saw a mile-long tailback of traffic had built up on the port-bound side of the A20.
The road was reopened shortly before 11am.
