The Polish motorcyclist who was killed in an accident in thick fog on the A2 near Dover on Friday has been named.

Maciej Lipiarz, who had lived in Dover for more than two years, died when his Yamaha Virago crashed into one of the roundabouts at the junction of the A2 and A256 between Whitfield and Guston at 6.15am.

He was 46 years old.

He was riding home from his work at Tilmanstone Salads.

The road was closed for more than four hours while police carried out an investigation. They do not believe any other vehicle was involved.

His family have spoken of his love of motorbikes which, ultimately, claimed his life.

Mr Lipiarz’s brother Pawel has travelled to Dover to help make arrangements for his body to be taken back to Poland for the funeral.

For the full interview with the family see this week's Dover Mercury.
