There will be a 90-minute delay for ferries at the Port of Dover today due to strike action in Calais.
Customers travelling through Dover today are "strongly" advised to make other arrangements.
P&O Ferries announced it was experiencing delays of 90 minutes as a result.
A spokesman has announced this morning that strike action has started in Calais and this could lead to an adverse impact on ferry services and capacity at Dover.
A spokesman for the port said: "There is currently a reduced number of berths available for discharge and loading. This is likely to have adverse impact on ferry services and capacity at the Port of Dover.
"Due to high volumes of traffic and potential disruptions there may be queues on the approach roads. Please do allow plenty of time for your journey.
"We will continue to monitor the situation closely in liaison with our ferry partners and the Port of Calais in order to provide regular updates.
"We expect services to return to normal late on Friday night or in the early hours of Saturday morning."
Heavy congestion and delays means that Operation Stack has been employed on the M20, with lorries lines up along the motorway.
Customers are advised to contact their ferry operator for more details.
