A Dover businessman and charity fundraiser died on Easter Monday after a long battle with lung cancer.

Brian Powell, 69, of Kingsdown Road, Kingsdown, was the owner of Powell Print in Coombe Valley Road, Dover.

He ran the business from its inception in 1966 and moved the company from London to Dover in 1967. He retired in 2009.

The business expanded and had offices in Norfolk, Essex and London, and at one time employed more than 100 people.

Mr Powell raised raised thousands of pounds for Teenage Cancer Trust.

With his wife Julie Powell, he also supported the Whitecliffs Talking Newspaper for the Blind.

His hobbies included flying light aircraft.

He leaves Julie, son David, daughter-in-law Zara and granddaughter Bethany.

The funeral will be held today at Barham and is for family only. This will be followed by a memorial service at St John’s Church, Kingsdown, at 11am.

A wake at Kingsdown Golf Club will be held immediately after the church service.
