Action had been taken when a primary age pupil brought a knife into their school, it has now emerged.
The child brought a small knife into school in their bag at Green Park Community Primary School in Dover.
The weapon was quickly reported to staff by other children and was recovered.
No children or adults were hurt.
Details have now emerged about the incident at the school in The Linces, Buckland, on Thursday, June 20.
In a statement through Kent County Council head teacher Richard Hawkins detailed the incident.
He added: “Although this was an isolated incident, staff have taken the matter seriously and the pupil concerned has been dealt with in accordance with the school’s disciplinary process. The school has previously worked with Kent Police to teach our older pupils about the dangers of knives and knife crime and this preventative work will continue.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank my staff for their professionalism and quick reactions and to reassure parents and carers that the safety and wellbeing of all our pupils and staff is paramount at all times and we will take all measures necessary to ensure they can learn and work in a safe environment."
The gender of the child concerned is not being confirmed.
