ENQUIRIES are being made today to find out how an upturned dinghy came to be floating in the Channel.
The crew of Dover and Walmer lifeboats were called out soon after 6.30pm last night after a member of the public saw the dinghy in the sea off St Margaret’s Bay.
The lifeboat crews searched the area for two and a half hours, using flares to light up the scene, before Dover lifeboat crew found the capsized dinghy and recovered it. Nothing else was found.
It was believed to have come from a local beach, but there is no evidence as to how it came to be in the water.
The authorities believe it may have been pushed into the sea as a prank, and they hope no-one was in it when it capsized.
