People are invited to the Lydden Hill racing circuit today (Saturday) to experience the track in a classic race Mini.

The car, which reaches 0-60 in around five seconds, belongs to Stephen King, who lives in Shepherdswell.

Mr King, 46, who has been racing competitively for 22 years is allowing those over the age of 14 to get involved.

It costs £20 for three laps – and the money is going towards fundraising for a charity called Variety, that helps children in sickness, disadvantage and disability.

Small Corgi models of the actual race mini can be bought on the day, with all proceeds going to Variety.

Mr King said: “It’s a rare opportunity to experience this cracking circuit from the passenger seat of a classic racing icon, at the same time as helping a really worthy cause. Lydden Hill is my local track and I’d like to thank them for supporting us and donating the track day.”

There is no entry fee to get in to the circuit.
