DOVER’S Chris Price is guaranteed at least a silver medal in the Concept 2 GB Grand prix indoor rowing challenge after finishing eighth in the latest meet of the series at Manchester.
Having finished 2nd, 3rd and fourth in the first three events, at Portsmouth, Cardiff and Cambridge, the Dover Rowing Club member found the going tougher against a bigger field in Manchester.
But his eighth place, after recording a time of 7mins 41secs for the 2,000 metres, was enough to keep Price at the top of the points table in the men’s Under-23 lightweight category.
The title will now be decided when Price and his closest rival, Dan Good from Plymouth, compete in the fifth and final event of the Grand Prix at the East Midlands Indoor Rowing Championships at Nottingham on Sunday, March 14.
Price also entered the men’s lightweight Open 500 metres sprint race at Manchester where he finished second in a personal best time of 1min 42secs.
