Film fans have expressed their sadness as a Kent cinema has revealed it has decided to shut for three months.
Bosses at the Silver Screen in Dover say declining footfall and the energy crisis have played a part in their decision to close the Gaol Lane theatre.
They shared the news on Facebook with their "loyal customers".
"Due to the decline in footfall, the lack of films, the energy crisis and projector costs we are temporarily closing the cinema until the Dover Film Festival in March," they said.
"Covid has caused a lot of delays in film production and a lot of films are now going directly to streaming services.
"Our projector also needs a lot of repairs and upkeep, which isn't possible at the moment.
"For over 31 years we have fought hard to bring a variety of films to our wonderful customers at affordable prices.
"We are very grateful for all of your love and support over the past three decades and we thank Dover District Council and Dover Town Council for their help.
"We will keep everyone updated on when we will reopen."
The company also has a cinema in Folkestone, that it says will "remain open for now".
News of the Dover venue's closure has disappointed regulars.
Julia Lukins posted: "Thank you for the joy you bring to the residents of this town. Many happy memories. Please, please reopen in March."
Claire Hall added: "Really sad to be reading this tonight. We love our little cinema. Look forward to seeing you back in spring."
Jane Vincent wrote: "So sorry to hear this, my grandchildren and myself love this little cinema."
