Sunday marked the ‘end of summer’ for the young sailors at the Cinque Ports Pirates Sailing Club.
The club now starts its winter training for the winter race series where sailors can prepare for next summer’s season and the 2015 regattas.
All 13 members received certificates for their hard work.
Commodore, Karen Amber said: “I am so very proud of all of their achievements.”
Staze Amber won an outstanding achievement award, and received certificates for her assistant instructor qualification and Royal Yacht Association (RYA) day sailing.
Finlay Adamson also gained his certificate for assistant instructor qualification and an outstanding achievement award.
Ryan Winter got his RYA day sailing certificate and trophy for the best team spirit.
Lily May won the commodores cup trophy which is awarded to the sailor who has personally achieved something really special.
Ms Amber added: “There were several candidates for this award but Lily really stood out for me, despite all of her health related issues she just surprises me.
“Her achievements this year include being in one of our Topper Teams, Bart’s Bash and the Channel Sail, she is now really pushing herself forward in training and hopes to achieve a place on the Kent team next year, I find her to be an absolute inspiration.”
She concluded: “All of the pirates who won awards and recognition on Sunday night should be really proud of their achievements and themselves, they are excellent role models for the children of Dover and are proof of what can be achieved with a little hard work.”
