Silk Hair Salon in Whitfield is celebrating its first anniversary since hairdresser Gemma Prosser set-up the business and fulfilled her dreams.
The 25-year-old hairdresser said there have been some challenges but she is pleased to be marking the occasion and has high hopes for the future.
There is a party to celebrate tomorrow (Saturday, April 2) attended by existing and new customers as well as members of the public.
Silk Hair Salon will raise money for Great Ormond Street Hospital with a raffle and plenty of prizes to give away.
Gemma is also marking her 10th year in the industry, having started as a Saturday girl to assistant manager and working her way up to owning her own business.
She said: “To have my own salon was a dream I have always had. This dream has now become a reality and I am proud to say that I am the owner of Silk Hair Salon.
“This year has been amazing but it has seen some challenges. I never anticipated it to take off like it has.
“I have a great team around me who have taken on this journey with me.
“I also couldn’t have achieved what I have with the support of my family and friends”.
Silk Hair Salon prides itself on being luxurious in a friendly environment and invests a lot of time and effort into making the experience extra special.
From roses at Valentine’s Day, to strawberries and cream for Wimbledon and mini eggs during Easter, the salon is full of unique ideas and little touches to brighten up someone’s day as well as providing a great service.
Gemma said: “I’m just so thankful and grateful for the support from our clients. We wouldn’t be where we are without them.”
The salon also has free parking and wi-fi and can boast stylists with up to date training and experience.
All new clients will receive 50% off their first cut and style.
The young entrepreneur with a passion for hair also hinted that there is going to be some exciting plans for the salon over the next year.
