A search is ongoing for a missing teenage girl from Dover.

Police were informed of 13-year-old Avril's disappearance at 10am this morning.

Her family have launched a social media appeal to find her, saying they are "really worried about her".

Avril's sister Kerri Merri Whitehall wrote on Facebook: "My mum woke up this morning to find her missing.

"If anybody has seen her or knows where she is could you please let us know we are really worried about her.

"Please could you either contact us."

A police spokesman said: "We are making enquiries after a 13-year-old girl was reported missing from the Dover area.

"Police were alerted at 10am today. The investigation is ongoing."
