POLICE investigating an incident in which a 10-year-old boy was bitten by a dog have released a CCTV picture of the animal's owner.

The man left the scene before police officrs arrived and they are asking him to come forward.

The boy was bitten by a black and white Jack Russell at a Tesco store in Whitfield, near Dover, at around 1.50pm on Sunday.

Police media officer Jon Green said: "The boy asked the owner if he could stroke the dog. As he did so the animal attacked the boy’s face."

The boy was taken to hospital and had nine stitches inserted in a wound to his lip.
