Oliver Bennett crashes £150,000 McLaren supercar during practice at Lydden Hill

This was the moment a racing driver crashed his £150k McLaren supercar during a practice day.

Fortunately Oliver Bennett, 24, escaped unscathed from the crash and walked away from the wreck looking shaken.

However, the front of his sleek red McLaren was smashed and debris was strewn across the track after it ploughed into a tyre wall.

Mr Bennett is second in the British Championship for Rallycross racing, and competed for the title on Bank Holiday Monday.

The dramatic accident happened during 'free practice' - a day before he competed at the British Rallycross Championship Round 6 at Lydden Hill, near Dover.

Part of the circuit had just been resurfaced but Mr Bennett is used to driving on Tarmac and gravel as part of the sport he competes in.

The car is believed to have suffered a differential malfunction transitioning on to the new surface tarmac.

Photographs showed the moment of impact, as the McLaren hit an earthy embankment, sending tyres flying and producing clouds of dust.
