'Skate park is what we need here', says Dover resident Geraldine Aldridge

A call has been made for a skate park to be built in Elms Vale Road to give children a place to call their own.

Geraldine Aldridge, 66, of Queen’s Avenue said older children play on the streets and she fears for their safety.

She said: “A skate park would provide the older children with hours of fun and it will be a space that would be theirs.

“I’m sure there is enough space to accommodate it without causing any disturbance to anyone else.

“The children have already trodden the soil in an area of the woods to create a sort of makeshift skate course which some of them use.”

She feels it should be built close to the recreation ground.

“The recreation ground is very well used by children as well as dog walkers, families and organised football matches. There is seldom any trouble.”

She is appealing for residents to come forward with play area suggestions.
