Police are investigating a feared stranger danger case after a man in a car approached a child.
He had stopped to speak to the boy in Lewisham Road, River, at about 8.35am yesterday.
The 10-year-old walked away unharmed.
Police spokesman Scarlet Jones said: “The man tried to talk to the boy but did not attempt to make physical contact or follow him.
“The boy did not respond and walked safely away.
“Officers are making initial inquiries.”
The car is described as black.
The incident has raised concern in the village, with a posting on the River Community Facebook page saying: “A 10-year-old was approached by a guy in a car.
“The boy pretended he was with a blonde lady pushing a buggy with a toddler and then the guy shut the car door and pulled off towards Crabble.”
