Firefighters tackled 60 tonnes of baled straw which was on fire in Guston yesterday (Thursday).

Crews were called at 3.24pm to East Langdon Road and remained on the scene until 5.12pm.

A spokesman for KFRS said: "Firefighters have responded to a fire involving approximately 60 tonnes of baled straw that was alight.

"They made a fire break using farm machinery and used a hose reel jet to prevent the fire spreading to an adjacent stack.

"Two fire engines initially attended but the incident will shortly be reduced to one crew."
