The mayor of Dover has joined forces with creative projects charity Dover smART to raise money for two good causes.
Cllr Sue Jones welcomed guests to cakes and coffee during the regular The Art of Age meeting in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society and the Dover Outreach Centre.
The Group is especially for the elderly including those living with dementia and their carers.
It meets every Tuesday to enjoy making art and having fun together.
Cllr Jones said: "I am so grateful to the smART Gallery for hosting the coffee morning as part of their weekly meeting.
"It was a very enjoyable event and raised a fabulous sum for the mayor’s charities."
Dover smART was founded in 2013 and supports local people through art and creative projects, building aspirations and nurturing wellbeing.
They currently work with: young carers and their families, school groups, people living with dementia, hospice patients and their families, people without a home and people who are coping with mental health issues and social isolation.
It has also vowed to help social welfare issues like period poverty and won funding including £58,000 from Children in Need for its work it does in the community.
