TV legend and singer Cilla Black’s visit to Dover in 1966 has been remembered following her death on Saturday.
Reports say that she died of natural causes at her Spanish home on the Costa del Sol, aged 72.
She rose to fame in 1963 with a singing career, performing one of her singles, Alfie, sitting on the balcony rail at Dover Town Hall.
She came to entertain in east Kent as part of a programme called Pop The Question broadcast by Southern TV.
The programme makers went to towns throughout the south and south east with the pop quiz show featuring various celebrities.
Each episode featured one hit of the day, which would be sung at a venue.
The picture shown is said to have been taken in one of the back rooms, possibly the Mayor’s Parlour, where she spoke to local journalists.
She would have been just 23.
In later years, Cilla was famous for presenting the hit shows Surprise Surprise and Blind Date in the 90s.
In 2013 she celebrated 50 years in show business – a successful career in the spotlight bringing friendships with other stars.
The Liverpudlian was married to her manager, Bobby Willis, who died in 1999, and they had three sons.
