It’s called The Women, but the story revolves around men - none of whom ever appear on stage!
That’s the latest offering from Dover Youth Theatre whose senior girls form the all-female cast for the classic play by Claire Boothe Luce.
Performances are at the Roundhouse Theatre in Dover Discovery Centre at 7.30pm on Friday and Saturday, November 21 and 22. Tickets are £6, concessions £4.
A comedy about love and what really matters, the original play ran on Broadway for 666 perfomances and, adapted for the screen, won five academy awards with stars like Joan Crawford, Norma Shearer and Rosaling Russell.
It’s an acidic commentary on the pampered lives and power struggles of various wealthy Manhattan socialites and up-and-comers and the gossip that propels and damages their relationships.
