A train has been damaged after colliding with a tree on the line.
The front of a Southeastern carriage was buckled in after hitting the tree near Dover.
Trains were unable to run between Canterbury East and Dover Priory for more than four hours after the arboreal blockage was found this morning.
Southeastern announced that the tree, which had been felled by severe weather overnight, was discovered near Shepherdswell.
The affected train is thought to have struck the object at around the same time, and the line was blocked while workers were sent to remove the tree.
Following checks for damage on the line, the affected train was removed and the line reopened, with the first train set to leave at 1.18pm.
Images of the damage to the train were shared by Network Rail, showing the front fly doors buckled in.
There were also branches and shards of wood embedded in the front of the train.
It is thought that the train was carrying passengers at the time, but it is not known if any injuries occurred as a result of the incident.
Network Rail tweeted: "Here's what the tree did to the poor Southeastern railway train a few hours ago.
"This is why we take poor weather and autumn conditions so seriously.
"We'll update you when we know the line is open again."
Southeastern has been contacted for comment.
