Emergency services descended on the tracks near Sandwich railway station at about 10.45am this morning, on the line between Dover and Ramsgate.
A British Transport Police spokesman said the force attended with paramedics, but a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

Train operator Southeastern has warned services in the area will be disrupted, with many diverted via Canterbury while emergency services respond to the incident.
Southeastern tweeted to let passengers know about the incident at about 10.45am today.
A spokesman said: "Sadly we've had a report that a person has been hit by a train between Dover Priory and Ramsgate and the lines are currently blocked.
"Trains are unable to run between Dover and Ramsgate.
"Replacement buses are now running between the stations and tickets are no longer being accepted on Stagecoach services.
"Response staff and emergency services are on site working to reopen the line as soon as possible but disruption is expected until 1pm."
