A new truckstop is due to open at Whitfield this month.
It has been provided by Priority Freight, one of Europe’s leading freight firms, and is located at the Port Zone at Old Park.
It will have capacity for 100 vehicles.
Managing director Neal Williams said: “We are convinced that there is a real demand for this kind of secure and comfortable overnight truckstop.
“With the undoubted increase in the targeted theft of high-value loads, transport managers want the peace of mind provided by a totally secure site with really good facilities for their drivers.”
The new truckstop features extensive security equipment, including CCTV and an automatic number plate recognition system, as well as an American-style diner, a trucker’s shop – operated by CDC, the UK market leader in truck and driver accessories – and impressive washroom facilities, including hot showers.
Any firms wishing to become account holders at the new truckstop should contact Mr Williams on 01304 828111.
