TWO people in their 70s were taken to hospital after they were involved in a collision with a lorry.

The accident, in Townwall Street at Dover, was attended by all three emergency services.

Dover fire and rescue crews freed the female driver and male passenger. The woman complained of lower back pain.

A nearby resident described the pavement area as a "complete mess" after the car spun round and crashed through pedestrian railings.

Leading firefighter, Chris Blown, said: "The two people were reported as being trapped in the car but when we arrived we managed to free them through the drivers' door.

"We did not have to cut any part of the car to get to them but they were badly shaken."
