House in Dover displaying Ukip poster egged on Friday night

A Ukip supporter’s home in Crabble Hill, Dover, was egged on Friday night.

It is thought the attack was caused by the display of a poster reading “I’m voting Ukip” in a street-facing window.

The occupant, who did not wish to be identified, woke on Saturday morning to find the exterior of the house covered in eggs.

Ukip candidate David Little urged other political candidates to back him up in condemning the act of vandalism.

He said: “I would like to know if Charlie Elphicke (Tory), Clair Hawkins (Labour) and Sarah Smith (Lib Dems) will come forward to condemn this outrageous act.

“It is a family home and a nice residential area.

“What sort of person would want to throw eggs at a window?”

“We have already seen the attack of Nigel Farage in a pub - people came in and tried to intimidate him and the family,”Mr Little said.

Incumbent MP Charlie Elphicke said: “In every election things like this happen.
“We always get a brick through our office window. All attacks of this nature are a disgrace and are to be condemned”

Lib Dem’s Sarah Smith said: “I completely support what David is saying.
“It can take a lot of courage to support a political party.

“The putting up of posters is a long tradition, it adds to the excitement that change is in the air.

“I think we will see them going up more before the election and I hope we see lots of posters - people need not feel intimidated.”

Labour’s Clair Hawkins said: "No home should be attacked for displaying a political poster."
