An Afghanistan man who has entered this country illegally several times and has been denied asylum, was found heading towards the UK again last month in a small boat.

Nazor Gul, 32, arrived on October 27, after the boat he was travelling across the Channel in was intercepted by authorities.

However, after being brought ashore and having his immigration status checked, it was found he'd been refused asylum when he applied to stay in this country in 2013.

Immigration authorities charged him with arriving in the UK without valid entry clearance, and he appeared before magistrates in Folkestone earlier this month, where he pleaded guilty to the offence.

The court heard Gul had a history of entering the UK illegally and had first been arrested for entering the country in 2012.

In 2013 he had claimed asylum but his claim was refused and despite an appeal, the decision was upheld.

However, Julie Farbrace prosecuting told the court in 2014, he was found in the dock area at Dunkirk, France and was handed to the French authorities.

She told the court in December 2014, he was found in the county by Kent Police and told officers he wanted to use the UK for its National Health Service.

She added: "He was returned to Italy but in April 2015 he was found by Suffolk Police and admitted he'd entered illegally five months before.

"He made a further attempt in October (this year). He has no convictions in this country."

Gul, Afghan national, told the court he had an address in the UK in the West Midlands, but couldn't go back to his own country as it was not safe for him and that he can't read or write and is an unwell man and is in a desperate position.

Magistrates jailed him for 240 days and ordered he pay a victim surcharge of £187 upon his release.

He is the second man who has tried to cross the Channel to this year to have been jailed.

Mariglen Shoshari, 31, a convicted murderer from Albania, was among those sent to the overcrowded Manston processing.

After admitting his past, authorities charged him with arriving in the UK without valid entry clearance and he was later jailed.
