Vandals have targeted a shelter for fans at Dover Rugby Club for the second time.
Doug Capon, 73, who has volunteered at the club for the last four years, spent weeks building the temporary stand for others to enjoy.
On Friday night it was struck by vandals who ripped the plastic sheeting from metal poles, leaving the area exposed to the elements.
This comes a month after the stand was first damaged when vandals slashed the plastic canopy – weeks after Mr Capon had built the temporary stand.
He said: “About 40 youngsters had gathered there on Friday evening, drinking and smoking.
“I had a word with them and they said they would behave and not do any damage. But alas, they did not keep their word.
“The protective sheeting had been ripped off, so I had to report it to the police.
“I had to spend Sunday morning repairing it instead of watching rugby.”
After the first incident, the retired postman said it was annoying to put so much work into something only for “mindless vandals” to destroy it.
This was despite Mr Capon writing a sign on the shelter that said: “Please don’t destroy it. Enjoy it.”
He claims teenagers regularly smoke, drink and smash bottles around the ground.
The pensioner would like to see CCTV cameras put in place to try and catch the culprits.
Police are investigating the incident and have made an appeal for witnesses to come forward.
