Warning letters have been sent to motorists who parked dangerously, blocking a road leading to the cliffs at Dover.
Yesterday we reported how drivers parked on a bend in a narrow country road leaving motorists with little option but to overtake on the opposite carriageway, risking a collision with oncoming traffic.
It happened near to the National Trust beauty spot at Langdon Cliffs between Dover and St Margaret's at Cliffe, where the trust's car park was shut because of Coronavirus social distancing measures.
Kent Police in Dover had tweeted a warning along with shocking pictures revealing the scale of the problem.
Today they revealed on that 19 warning letters have been sent to those responsible.
The tweet said: "Today the CSU team have sent 19 warning letters to drivers who parked in a dangerous and/or obstructive manner along the highway by the National Trust White Cliffs site.
"We will continue working with our partners to ensure the safety of all of our road users."
While some vehicles parked on the bend towards Upper Road, Dover, two lines of vehicles parked parallel to the road on verges facing St Margaret's.
Sgt Ben Norbury of the Dover community safety unit said: "Safety concerns were raised with Kent Police at the weekend due to the number of cars being parked on the roadside in the Langdon Cliffs area.
"We are working with the National Trust to identify a solution to this issue and will have officers patrolling the area this weekend to ensure public safety.
"Motorists are advised to park responsibly at all times to ensure they do not put themselves or other road users at risk of serious injury or worse.’
