A section of the iconic White Cliffs of Dover has sold at auction for £75,000.
The 17.29 acres of clifftop is south of Old Dover Road in Capel-le-Ferne and next to Warren Country Park in Folkestone.
It offers stunning views across the English Channel to France.
It was among 137 lots that the land and property auctioneers Clive Emson listed before its recent sale.
Jon Rimmer, auction appraiser, said: “This was a fantastic opportunity for someone to own part of the iconic cliffs.
“It was offered with a freehold guide price of £50-55,000.”
The landmark has long been synonymous with the bravery of our armed forces and the fortitude of the nation and featured in the late Dame Vera Lynn’s war-time anthem of 1942.
The song had a new lease of life earlier this year following the death the singer who was 103.
Speaking at the time the lot was listed, Mr Rimmer said: "There is a variety of wildlife on the land – but no bluebirds which are a north American species."
