DOVER Athletic go into Saturday's FA Trophy, fourth-round, tie at Forest Green Rovers full of confidence despite last weekend’s setback against league leaders Weymouth.
The expulsion of Barnet for fielding an ineligible player in their 3-2 victory over the Whites in the third round has brought a buzz around the club.
And Dover aim to make the most of their second chance when they travel to Gloucestershire for a tie that, on paper, looks easier than the Barnet clash.
The word “revenge” is likely to be mentioned a number of times in manager Richard Langley’s team talk after Rovers ended the Whites’ dreams in the fifth round last year with a comprehensive victory 3-0 victory at Crabble.
It was a match that holds bad memories for Whites' skipper Andy Arnott. He explained: “We let ourselves down in the game. We maybe gave them too much respect last time and they punished us, and to be fair they were the better side throughout the game.
“ I would like to think we can do better this time, and hopefully the game will be better on a personal note as I was sent off for what I thought was a fair challenge. We have nothing to fear and I think if we can play to our strengths we have a chance.”
Dover are forced to make one change from last Saturday’s because James Millar is cup-tied. That is likely to mean a recall to the starting line-up for Darren Davies, with Langley likely to revert to his favoured formation away from home of 4-5-1, with either Dale Skelton or Tommy Tyne being used as the link-up man to Craig Wilkins.
* Dover’s home fourth-round Dr Martens League Cup tie with Folkestone Invicta, postponed last Tuesday, has been rescheduled for Tuesday, February 10.
