A ferry company is seeking everyday heroes in the pandemic crisis.

It wants people to send in nominations.

The prize for the winner is £500 cash and a DFDS sailing to the Continent in 2021.

This is being done after the firm has won a World's Best Ferry Operator award for the 10th consecutive year.

The World Travel Award Prize for the firm, which has sailings between Dover and Calais and Dunkirk, came through a vote by passengers.

Kasper Moos, head of passenger organisation at DFDS, said: "We want to celebrate the people who have made a difference in their own communities this year.

"There is no doubt 2020 has been a year like no other.

"With restrictions returning to a tiered system we are now thinking ahead to how the future of ferry travel will look in the coming months and years."

To nominate a hero, say in 250 words or less why they should be chosen.

Nominations (with contact details) should be sent to dover.pr@dfds.com to arrive no later than Sunday, December 13.

Judging will take place from Monday, December 14, with winners notified by Christmas Eve.
