A woman has landed a £640 court bill after repeatedly letting her dogs stray.

Dover District Council received a number of complaints that Stephanie Matthews had continually allowed her dogs to wander from her home.

The environmental crime team tried to deal with the matter informally but the behaviour continued.

So a community protection notice was served upon Matthews, requiring her to prevent her dogs from straying from her property.

After the notice was served more reports of the dogs straying were received.

The council’s environmental crime team were provided with CCTV evidence of this on two occasions on June 11 last year and once on July 9 .

As a result the council took the matter to court.

Matthews, 36, of Common Lane, River, was found guilty in her absence of three offences of failing to comply with a community protection notice after failing to prevent her dogs from straying from her property.

Folkestone Magistrates Court on Monday ordered her to pay a fine of £110, along with costs of £500 and a £30 victim surcharge.
