THE body of a woman has been recovered from beneath the cliffs between Dover and St Margaret's.

Dover lifeboat crew and police were alerted on Friday morning when the body was discovered on the rocks below the South Foreland lighthouse.

Lifeboatmen used their inflatable boat to get into the shore and recover the body which was landed at Dover.

It is understood the discovery was made after an extensive search by police who had received a report that the woman was missing.
